Water Dance Storytime

STEMLinc Video Conference:  It’s story time! Year 4 students are invited to follow along with a reading from the environmental storybook “Water Dance” by Thomas Locker.   Students are engaged in a science-themed, hands-on and interactive presentation that explores the water cycle.

Year Level: 4

Duration: 1 hour

Background Information: Teaching the process of the water cycle to children is important to make them understand the different environmental phenomenon. It may also make them realise the importance of saving water. Of the many processes involved in the water cycle, the most important are evaporation, transpiration, condensation, precipitation, and runoff.

Prior Knowledge: No prior knowledge necessary

Learning Intentions:

In this program students will:

• Learn that seeking answers to questions and making observations is a core part of science
• Explore how the various water cycle processes are an essential part of  a healthy environment
• Identify and describe the changes to resources, living things and things in their local environment
• Use their senses to explore the world around them and make and compare observations.

Activities:

In this program students will:

• Engage with a picture book by a recognised author/illustrator
• Partake in STEM observation, listening, and questioning
• Make a 3D water cycle model
