Course Overview

STEMLinc video conferencing: How do machines know what they know? In this introduction to artificial intelligence, examines the concept of intelligence through interactive activities like intelligent paper and an invisible maze game. Gain a deeper understanding that intelligence goes beyond simple storage of knowledge.  Ecolinc joins forces with Liberty Science Center in New York for this video conference. Prior Knowledge:

No prior knowledge is required.

Learning Intentions:

In this program students will:

  • generate and compare multiple possible solutions to a problem based on how well each is likely to meet the criteria and constraints of the problem
  • integrate information from several texts on the same topic in order to write or speak about the subject knowledgeably
  • use appropriate AI tools strategically
  • evaluate how well a new tool has met its intended purpose and identify any shortcomings it might have

Activities:

In this video conference students will:

  • interact with the expert educational presenters live from Liberty Science Center USA
  • explore what machine intelligence means
  • learn to use a teachable machine platform to train a simple AI model

  • Develop digital solutions as simple visual programs
