Little Scientists explore mosquitoes and microbes
STEMLinc Video Conference: An interactive workshop for little scientists to be engaged and inspired by the fascinating world of science with award winning scientist and educator Dr Rina Fu. Students are participate in a science-themed, hands-on interactive presentation. Their investigations will be based around mosquitoes and microbes using drama, song and art. Background Information: Before this video conference, why not visit Rina’s picture storybook theme song ‘I’m a Little Scientist‘ sing-along video. It has fun actions and a great vocabulary that shows young students in simple language, they need for patience, determination and perseverance to work things out! Rina is an experienced Scientist in her own right but has been sharing her passion for science with young children through a series of innovative programs. Ecolinc are proud to collaborate with her as a STEMLinc presenter.

Learning Intentions:
In this program students will:
- Learn that seeking answers to questions and making observations is a core part of science
- Explore how the mosquitoes bodily structure supports the transference of parasites in humans through drama and song
- Understand the use of equipment to view microbes by engaging in art
Activities:
In this program students will:
- Meet a real Scientist, author and illustrator
- Conduct scientific enquiry
- Partake in observation skills training
- Engage with a STEM sing-a-long and an illustrative drama activity
- Draw a simple model to illustrate the use of scientific equipment
